Backpackers hostel and surf camp with rooftop bar (with €1 beers!), BBQ nights, swimming pool and free breakfast in Lagos, Portugal – from €12pppn
We are located a short walk from the Lagos old town – close to all of the bars and restaurants that the town offers but not so close that they’ll keep you awake at night!
The hostel has a mixture of twin rooms, private rooms for up to 6 people and shared dorm rooms.
Most rooms have air-conditioning to escape the summer heat and are all super clean and comfortable. Linen is included in the price – please do not bring sleeping bags with you.
We have great shared common areas and a kitchen where you can prepare your own food and hang out with other guests; alternatively you can get out into the garden and get your tan on, cool down in the pool or just have a lazy day in a hammock.
One of the highlights of the Bura Surfhouse is our rooftop bar where we hold our ‘Sunset sessions’ with live acoustic surf musicians, ‘Starlight cinema’ where you can kick back on beanbags and cushions and watch a film under the stars, have a cocktail or a beer and enjoy freshly caught seafood from our BBQ.
Our bar is a chilled out environment to enjoy a few lazy after-surf beers and shuts each evening at 10pm when the party shifts into town so we can respect our neighbours and those who are getting up early. While we definitely enjoy a few beers and a Caiparinha or two (or three…), we are not a wild party hostel – we offer a great time but also a great night’s sleep for everyone so please bear this in mind when booking with us.

Lagos is one of the most visited cities in the Algarve and Portugal, due to its variety of tourist-friendly beaches, bars, restaurants, and hotels, renowned for its vibrant summer nightlife and parties. Yet, Lagos is also a historic centre of the Portuguese Age of Discovery, frequent home of Henry the Navigator, historical shipyard and, at one time, centre of the European slave trade. In 2012, travel website TripAdvisor, classified Lagos as the number 1 travel destination, on a list of “15 destinations on the rise” worldwide.
