This long stretch of scalloped golden sand has earned a reputation as the best beachbreak in Europe and one of the best in the world, all for good reason: Barrels.

But it's not just a place for experts to surf, there's plenty of more gentle waves to be found as well, which are perfect of learning how to surf in a fun and gentle way.

The accomodation at the eco surf lodge::

Shared rooms, are for individuals, groups of friends and families willing to share their interest in surfing and nature. Each room has its own shower and toilets.

The communal areas:
Like the kitchen, video corner, pool table, and the warm hydro-massage pool can be used anytime.

After a good day at the beach you can enjoy “après surf” with a beer, lemonade or a glass of Bordeaux on the large wooden terrace, in the spa or organise a BBQ under the oak trees.

Also available are :
bicycles, canoes, and a rowing boat… to discover the lakes and forest of the neighbouring Landes region

Surf lessons: 1h30 duration, 8 persons maximum).

Warm up for 10/15 minutes : content of the warm up depends on ocean conditions as well as the time of the day... (e.g. walking to the spot, muscle stretches and body surfing).

Main part of the lesson has usually 2 goals per session (getting through the "white water", standing up, changing direction...).  For each goal, the teacher gives different exercises and tips - at first for the whole group and then individualy.

Then it's your turn to give it a go, carefully watched by your instructor (who will be in the water with you ;-) along with personal feedback (positioning, your technique, foot position, timing etc...). 

Indeed, every one has their own strengths and weaknesses and develops at different speeds and different ways, so after a few tries your progression will be unique and will need appropriate tailored comments to help you improve.

The last 5/10 minutes of the class are dedicated to group debriefing and the teacher will identify one or two points to work at during your next lesson.

Getting there:

Located in the SW corner of France on the Atlantic side.

Biarritz has an airport which is close. or alternatively Bordeaux, but from there you will need to get a bus or train to Biarritz where you are going to be picked up.
